Every now and again it’s a little fun to get caught in a sort of alternate dimension. A place where you senses are momentarily confused and you get to re-explore the world from a new perspective. A short hike down a private road quickly turned into a trippy play on perspective. As novice photographers, we never know when inspiration will strike. It’s up to us to always be ready and to have are gear available on the fly. You can spend thousands of dollars on gear, but no camera will ever be as good as the one you to capture the moment (provided you have charged batteries and storage space). Something caught my eye and I wanted to check it out. Who knew a puddle could become so fascinating.
Saddly, it was a dragonfly which had flown its last. However, there was something tranquil about the way it drifted past us in its peaceful pond. We attempted to remove it from the water, in case it might come to. But to no avail. A puddle is only as magical as you allow to be. The chasm between two worlds can be a beautiful place. This was probably the creepiest photo I’ve ever taken. I could not help but think that the eyes reflecting from the water did not match those above water.
As it began to rain we had to get off the mountain. I Could not afford to break another camera… Although the weather on Oahu is unpredictable, it never reduces the fun factor. You just need to get out there and make the best of every occasion. Remember that no matter where you are, it’s never permanent.
